Wednesday and Thursday in grade 4/5, we learned about the steps to mummify an Egyptian pharoah. In order to put our newfound knowledge into practice, we mummified Barbies. Here are photos of the steps:

First, you would have to remove the organs, except for the heart. Since Barbies don't have organs, we drew a heart on the doll's chest. Then it was washed and covered with salt.

Next, the body would have been dried for 40 days. Instead, we let it dry overnight.
Thursday, we covered the Barbie in wine vinegar.
Then, the Pharoah's body is covered in spices. We used cinnamon and nutmeg.
Lastly, a paste was created out of flour and water. In Egypt, honey and tree sap would have been used. The Barbie was wrapped from head to toe in strips of muslin. The Pharoah is now ready for the afterlife.
